New Twitter Has Many of the Same Issues as Old Twitter
I like to think I have a better record of being right than most, but as the last few weeks have shown, I was absolutely mistaken in my enthusiasm for Elon Musk taking over the platform formerly known as Twitter.
The reason I had high hopes for Musk is because the previous leadership’s approach to speech was not sustainable. Twitter would often ban or limit mainstream political speech that conflicted with accepted media and political narratives, which in many cases were wrong. That selective enforcement of speech rules caused such a backlash that it seemed inevitable people would demand action. That demand for action was pushing the discussion towards more government regulation.
