Alvin Bragg Proves the Point
One of the biggest criticisms of the NYC case against Donald Trump is that Alvin Bragg used a questionable legal theory to pursue felony charges for a criminal act that has otherwise always been considered a misdemeanor. Combine that with Bragg’s tendency to reduce or dismiss charges for far worse criminal activity and it becomes clear that the charges against Trump were politically motivated. Bragg’s office reinforced that argument again last week when they dropped almost all of the charges against the criminals in the mob that violently took over Hamilton Hall at Columbia University. The refusal to impose any criminal consequences for serious behavior inevitably incentivizes more of it, which has caused a serious problem with repeat criminal offenders in New York City.
