Jussie Smollett Settles Chicago Lawsuit Over Assault Hoax

Jussie Smollett settled with the city of Chicago last week, agreeing to pay $50,000 to charity to compensate for the resources spent investigating his false assault report. The delusional actor released a statement claiming he had been exonerated by the Illinois Supreme Court. In reality, the Illinois Supreme Court vacated his conviction and jail sentence not because they believed he was innocent, but because the charges and conviction followed a non-prosecution agreement with Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx.

Foxx, who received significant campaign support from George Soros due to her reluctance to pursue serious punishments against criminals, went out of her way to protect Smollett. A special prosecutor investigation found extensive misconduct by Foxx’s office and Foxx herself in handling the case.

Santa Ono to be Elected President of the University of Florida

On Tuesday, the University of Florida's trustees approved Santa Ono as president. Ono, who previously held the same role at the University of Michigan, will replace Ben Sasse.

This is a questionable move given Ono’s history. Ono was a strong advocate for DEI initiatives at the University of Michigan and has a record of supporting various left-wing causes. However, this decision also reflects how significantly the conversation around such initiatives—once considered standard and essential at major universities—has shifted.

To secure support for his new role, Ono released a detailed note explaining how his perspective on DEI has evolved and what led him to eliminate DEI offices at Michigan and refocus the institution on a more merit-based approach. Specifically, Ono argues that DEI shifted from ensuring equal opportunity and fairness to prioritizing ideology, division, and bureaucracy. While some of this may be an attempt to assuage concerns, the fact that he feels compelled to do so indicates how much the previous approach has been deemed toxic and misguided.
