NYT Bias Evident in the Data
The bias of major news outlets regarding the war in Gaza has been obvious to anyone paying attention. A new analysis of The New York Times’s coverage since 10/7 looks at which side the coverage has focused criticism on and which side it has empathized with. I think the charts speak for themselves. Criticism of Hamas has virtually disappeared as if they are a non-entity in the conflict, while empathy for Israelis was mostly gone within weeks of the attack.
NYT Iran Reporting Scandal
While discussing the helicopter crash of the Islamic Regime’s President, The New York Times’ top reporter on Iran, Farnaz Fassihi, was caught on a hot mic in a clubhouse room instructing another journalist to make sure they do not interview prominent Iranian dissident Masih Alinejad. That is beyond outrageous. Alinejad is one of the most well-known and prominent critics of the regime. So much so that the Department of Justice brought charges last year for a regime-backed assassination plot against her. There are serious ethical questions about how a reporter can be objective if they discount the views of regime critics.
