UNRWA’s Role Continued…
Israel revealed last week an extensive Hamas data facility directly beneath UNRWA headquarters. The discovery came as some continue to defend UNRWA despite extensive revelations of the group abetting terrorist activities in the Gaza Strip. The facility in question was built with the assumption that Israel could not bomb the area because it was being covered by UNRWA headquarters, which would be impossible without the acquiescence of UNRWA personnel.
The embarrassing response from UNRWA was basically that they weren’t aware of the major terror facility under them. Just like they weren’t aware of the Hamas members on their payroll, their teachers indoctrinating kids to hate, the way their supplies were used to build infrastructure for terrorism, the number of weapons stored in their facilities, and more.
This group receives massive amounts of aid. If their best defense is ignorance, why would anyone keep funding them?
It’s important to note that UNRWA simply exists to perpetuate the conflict. The world’s other refugee groups fall under the umbrella of the UN refugee agency (UNHCR). UNRWA exists solely to create a different definition of refugees that exclusively applies to Palestinians to perpetuate the current conflict.
You see, if a Jewish person fled ethnic cleansing in Syria after 1948 (the Jewish population went from 30K in 1948 to around 100 people in 2017), that person may have temporarily been called a refugee. However, when they had kids in Israel and their kids became Israeli citizens, they were no longer counted as refugees and simply moved on with their lives. However, if a Palestinian Arab similarly fled to Syria after 1948 and then had kids who were given Syrian citizenship, their kids are still considered refugees under the UNRWA definition.
This twisted definition only applies to one group and is exclusively meant to perpetuate the idea that those ancestors still have a claim to the land they left despite never having been there, thus perpetuating the idea that Israel’s very right to exist is under continual question.
