AG Report 1.3.2023
Happy New Year, friends. A mini-AG Report update this week due to travel and the holidays.
I’ve noted in recent newsletters that The Washington Post news division has essentially become a transcription service for Hamas.
One example I cited a few weeks ago:
Since Oct. 7, The Washington Post has become a pro-Hamas stenography service instead of a real news organization. Its latest flub was an article published several weeks ago claiming Israel was separating Palestinian babies from their mothers as part of their war effort.
The three reporters cited almost exclusively anonymous sources and did not contact Israeli authorities, blaming their lack of due diligence on “fear of reprisals from Israeli authorities.” Of course, if such fear prevents you from getting both sides of a story, you probably don’t have enough to publish. Then someone did the work that those Post “reporters” refused to do and got some context and details.
The “response” story completely refutes the information shared with Post readers, explaining that Israel is going out of its way to provide free medical care and protect premature Palestinian babies. In one case where a name was provided, Israel has not only taken care of the baby but even offered to reunite the baby with its mother via the Rafah crossing. However, the mother did not want to bring the baby into a war zone, so Israel continued to care for the baby.
The Washington Post has now added a lengthy editor’s note to that article with several corrections, including conceding that the article “fell short of the Post's standards for fairness.” The problem is that it isn’t one article, it has been the entire approach of their news division with no indication of changes coming.
