AG Report 12.4.2024
Biden Pardons Hunter
President Joe Biden issued a sweeping pardon for his son Hunter Biden over the weekend, reversing a year-long promise not to intervene in his son’s legal troubles. This pardon is notably expansive, potentially absolving Hunter of any federal crimes committed since 2014. The move represents a clear misuse of presidential authority.
What’s more concerning is the apparent deception involved. Both Joe Biden and his administration repeatedly assured the public that no pardon was forthcoming, a message echoed and often defended by the media. This narrative was strategically used to paint Biden as a president adhering to legal norms, contrasting sharply with political opponents accused of undermining them. However, recent revelations from NBC News indicate that the possibility of a pardon was always on the table, suggesting these assurances were for public optics only.
Despite this, the mainstream media reaction has been surprisingly muted, with coverage largely framing the story around Republican responses rather than examining the integrity of the initial statements. You would think the media members who were complicit in parroting the original lie would take a little more offense to being used in such a way.
