SCOTUS Attacks Continue
The Supreme Court’s recently adopted ethics code hasn’t stopped the media's campaign to undermine its legitimacy. The attacks have gotten increasingly absurd and misleading, the latest example being a ProPublica piece that turned into a New York Times article claiming that Clarence Thomas threatened to resign in early 2020 if his salary was not increased.
The insinuation is that Thomas sought exceptional financial gain for himself, which was achieved via corrupt means later. The basis for the claim, a memo written by someone describing an offhand remark Thomas allegedly made to a member of Congress, says nothing of the sort. There is no evidence Thomas threatened to resign or demanded a higher salary and the articles left out critical relevant context.
