Happy holidays, friends. Thank you for reading and following along.

Bidens Decline Traced Back to 2021

The Wall Street Journal published a bombshell report tracking evidence of President Biden's cognitive decline back to 2021 and how it was covered up by staff and allies. The problem is that for years, the response to anyone questioning this decline was met with denials and gaslighting, insisting it wasn't happening, including from press members. Much of the media showed zero curiosity about whether the accusations were true and often admonished those who brought it up.

Chris Cillizza posted an apology on X admitting that he should have "pushed harder" regarding questions about Biden's physical and mental fitness to serve. Back in 2021, Cillizza himself referred to questions about Biden's mental fitness as "gross, lowest-common-denominator politics." The problem is there are just too many legitimate stories, from Hunter Biden's laptop to the discussion of whether COVID-19 could have been the result of a lab leak to the discussion about the harms of school closures, that the press has dismissed because they were unhelpful to the preferred narrative at the time. Post-election expressions of regret are meaningless if people don't view them as sincere or if their audiences don't believe any lessons have been learned. If the press wants to regain credibility, they will have to prove it with their actions, not just these late and mostly meaningless admissions.
