Lorenz Meltdown Highlights Media’s Acceptance of Left-Wing Extremists

Just a few years ago, Taylor Lorenz was broadly considered a star journalist and given a platform by The New York Times and The Washington Post. When hired by the Post, Lorenz was praised for her “dogged reporting, keen insights, and boundless curiosity” despite a history of far-left activism in both her online commentary and reporting.

Other journalists overwhelmingly dismissed her obvious bias and dishonesty, which this newsletter has extensively documented. They also overlooked her bizarre and often deranged public comments related to issues such as COVID-19 and health care. But she rarely took heat at the Post until a few months ago when she posted an image from the White House of Joe Biden, labeling him a “war criminal” and lying to her editors about it. But even that didn’t get her fired; instead, she chose to leave on her own.

Over the last week, Lorenz openly celebrated the targeted assassination of health insurance executive Brian Thompson and advocated for the targeting of more industry executives. This insane behavior is consistent with her past social media rantings. Yet, none of that precluded her from getting a platform at one of the largest publications in the country and being lavished with praise while there.

The Lorenz example underscores the free pass left-wing extremists are given to spew their hateful rhetoric at mainstream publications. The Times or Post would rightly never hire Laura Loomer as a journalist, but they never apply the same standards for extremists on the left.
