Israel-Gaza Continued…
The media continued its questionable coverage of the Middle East conflict this week. The general approach by the press, which is far more left-wing and anti-Israel than the public, has been to assume that Israel is wrong and its critics are correct. They parrot claims from the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry uncritically while treating every Israeli claim with extreme skepticism.
U.S. intelligence has backed Israel’s claim that Hamas is using Al Shifa hospital as a base for militant operations and Israel showed evidence of Hamas activity at the hospital. There’s also been witness testimony. Still, many media outlets are pretending that it’s a disputable claim because the terrorist-run entity said so.
BBC is consistently among the most anti-Israel news organizations in the world. They’ve been so bad that an Israeli skit show did a hilarious parody showing BBC spinning things on behalf of Hamas and complaining that their situation was unfair. Little did they know the BBC bias is beyond parody. The very next day, BBC misreported on an Israeli statement that they were entering the hospital with medical teams and Arab speakers, instead telling viewers that the IDF was “attacking” Arabic speakers and medical teams. They later issued an apology.
The LA Times did the bare minimum to uphold journalistic standards this week, which inevitably led to a bunch of outrage from journalists. After a bunch of LA Times reporters signed a clearly anti-Israel letter, the LA Times told those reporters that they couldn’t write about the conflict for 3 months. This seems like the absolute bare minimum, but the journalists who happen to view open activism as part of their job description were outraged at the idea that they couldn’t be open about their bias while operating as reporters.
